ACTION NEEDED: Vote for Bo Ryan and Help JDRF Win $100,000

Very exciting news – Bo Ryan (University of Wisconsin Men’s Basketball coach) has selected JDRF as his charity partner in the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge!! Infiniti, a proud corporate partner of NCAA® Men’s Basketball, will donate $5,000 to each participating coach’s selected charity. The coach who receives the most votes will win $100,000, which will be awarded to his selected charity.

The voting will take place at www.espn.com/infiniti starting Wednesday, January 18. Fans and supporters can vote daily for their favorite coach, but they need to be registered on the ESPN web site. Please register at www.espn.com as soon as possible and start voting on Wednesday.

The first round of voting is January 18-February 27 and includes 48 of the nation’s top college basketball coaches. Coaches will count on their network of fans, alumni, students, faculty and charities to advance to the finals. School supporters will have a chance to vote daily for their favorite coach in each of the four regions — East, South, West and Midwest. On February 28, the coach receiving the most votes in his region will move on to the “final four”, with voting starting over again until March 8.

Please help spread the word with your family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Florida coach Billy Donovan won the challenge in 2011 with 30,000 votes, so we need this campaign to go “viral”.

Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes

The Western Wisconsin Chapter is looking for schools interested in hosting a Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes this spring, an educational school fundraising program that raises money to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

While raising money for JDRF, students learn about diabetes and the importance of making healthy choices. The money raised through this program helps fund type 1 diabetes research and provides additional dollars for your school to use on equipment, field trips, books or whatever your school needs!

If you would like to get your school involved, please contact Liz Meland at emeland@jdrf.org or 608-833-2873. Click here for additional information.

December AT1 event – canceled – FEEDBACK REQUESTED!

Unfortunately we only had 9 people sign up for Decembers event at Hy-Vee – and the minimum needed from the dietician was 15.

I WOULD LOVE YOUR FEEDBACK:

1. Are you still interested in a food presentation with a dietitian type meeting? yes or no

2. Why didn’t you sign up for December’s meeting? Was it the type of event, date conflict, cost or other?

3. Are you still interested in meeting on a quarterly basis with other T1′s?

4. What type of venues or activities would be like to see in 2012?

Have a great holiday season and hope to see you early in 2012.

Warm regards,
Karisa
