Please note that all Ride volunteers are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and meals.
Burlington, Vt Ride to cure starts today!
Posted by Western Wisconsin in Events, Ride to Cure Diabetes on July 16, 2010
Burlington, Vt, one of the premier cycling destinations in the United States, offers “classic New England” cycling on some of the most scenic roads in Vermont. The JDRF new course follows more than 100 miles through historic villages featuring covered bridges and flowing rivers. Take in spectacular views while cycling along a relatively flat course through the pristine Champlain Valley.
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains, Burlington is one of America’s most beautiful cities. Burlington has long been known as Vermont’s Queen City. It’s the home of the University of Vermont, Champlain College, Community College of Vermont and Burlington College and attracts a variety of musical, theater and other cultural events.
The core of this vibrant city’s downtown is the Church Street Marketplace. Its cross-streets are the meeting place for Burlington, where grand architecture of the past blends with the artistic and commercial vibrancy of the present. With 40 specialty shops and 15 national retailers, it is any shopper’s dream! Burlington’s nearby waterfront is home to parks, a walking/bike path, fine restaurants, ferry crossings and cruise boats.

Madison 56ers Girls soccer coaches Molly and Mary Duffy created a juggle-a-thon for their players to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The players were challenged to collect pledges from 5 people outside of their family. The pledge could be a flat fee or a per juggle pledge. On June 6, 2009, the Juggle-a-thon took place. The players had 15 minutes to see how many juggles in a row they could achieve without dropping the ball to the ground. The teams felt great accomplishment in their awesome juggling skills and that they raised $2,841.00 for JDRF.
