My name is Laurie Triller, and I am excited to be the Family Basket Chairperson for the 2011 Spring Gala.  My daughter Shannon was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes in 2005 at the age of 7 years.   She is now 13 years old and although we as a family are able to manage her diabetes on a day to day basis I also know very well how this disease affects families as a whole. With continued research it is our hope to one day find a cure for this terrible disease.    

The family basket fundraiser is a wonderful way for you to participate in the Gala to help raise money for this needed research.  Last year, family baskets brought in over $7,000!  This is an amazing amount of money, and the baskets add a beautiful, warm touch to the evening.  Nothing is more special than seeing what family and friends bring forth in honor of their loved ones living with diabetes.

To continue to make this a success, we need you!  If you would like to donate a family basket, please fill out the Family Basket Interest Form 2011 and send it to the JDRF office as soon as possible, but no later than March 8, 2011.  You can email the form to westernwi@jdrf.org or mail to Western Wisconsin Chapter 434 S. Yellowstone Dr., Suite 202, Madison, WI 53719.

Please include the following: 

1. Choose a theme for your basket.  This is your chance to be creative and have fun!  The options are limitless, so think about items and activities your family enjoys.  Feel free to call me at the number below if you would like to talk about basket ideas.
2. The estimated value of each basket should be $50 or greater.
3. A picture of your child to accompany the basket is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to the basket!
4. Consider asking family members and friends to donate a basket on your child’s behalf.

All finished baskets need to be in the JDRF office by March 8, 2011. If transportation is a problem, please contact us at 608-833-2873.
