A fun and festive atmosphere will prevail!
The race starts at 8:00 am sharp. We will finish in time for the Memorial Day parade through Evansville at 10:00 and the memorial service at the cemetery. Come enjoy the walk or run through this lovely park and support the “Ride for the Cure” for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

A free T-shirt is included in your registration if received by May 8. Beverages, snacks and a bag of goodies are yours at the end of the run!

In Growing Up Again: Life, Loves and Oh Yeah, Diabetes JDRF’s International Chairman, Mary Tyler Moore , recounts the years since her diagnosis with type 1 , revealing both her successes and failures in coping with diabetes and offering guidance and inspiration by her example. She includes discussions with children and adults with diabetes to give voice to their experiences, and taps into the vast diabetes research network to talk with leading experts who are discovering new ways to control diabetes and its complications, and pursuing new ways to cure it.

Madison Support Group Meeting ~ 3/24/09!

The JDRF parent networking meeting is fast approaching, Tuesday, March 24, 6:30 pm at the JDRF building, 7818 Big Sky Drive, second floor conference room.

The speaker? I’m asking each one of us to bring a new idea, device, tip, or piece of information to share with the group. I’ve come across a couple new things to share as I did research on CPR for our group. If nothing comes to mind, possibly some research would help or a personal story of something you’d like to share. This will be a total sharing meeting, so encourage any newly diagnosed families to attend, with more time for questions and answers this month. Hope to see you there!

JDRF Western Wisconsin Chapter beneficiary of RBC Wealth Management Shoot-Around

On Sunday, March 7, the JDRF Western Wisconsin Chapter received a $2,500 contribution from RBC Wealth Management from their charity “Shoot-Around” at the UW Men’s basketball game against Indiana.

During a first period time-out, the 8th grade boys Middleton Bluebirds basketball team took the court at the Kohl Center. For each successful lay-up during the 30 second timeout, JDRF received $100. Sam Zander of Waunakee accepted the $2,500 donation on behalf of JDRF and all people living with type 1 diabetes.

Special thanks to Darin Schubring , Middleton Bluebirds Coach and RBC Wealth Management Vice President for his facilitating the event.

Thanks for coming and supporting each other, as we share our latest experiences and learn from each other.

Lara Curry , Medtronic , discussed the pump, CGM, bolus wizard, care link personal, data management, insurance, and future technologies. As always, this information was very interesting, sprinkled with stories and delivered with a great sense of humor.
