This year, they will be teaming up with JDRF for a two week scannable point of sale campaign from February 19-March 3. Western Wisconsin locations include Madison and Onalaska. I’d like everyone to come and meet Amy Zirk, CPNP, CNS, from American Family Children’s Hospital. Amy will be presenting sick day guidelines and discussing some great projects she’ll be working on to strengthen and improve our experiences with the staff at AFCH. Assemble a Family Basket for the Spring Gala

Creating a family basket is a wonderful way for everyone in the Western Wisconsin Chapter to participate in the Spring Gala. Last year, these beautiful and creative baskets raised more than $10,000 for diabetes research. Nothing is more touching than seeing what family and friends put together in honor of their loved ones living with type 1 diabetes. If you would like to donate a family basket, information is available on our website. Casey’s General Store Sneaker Sales

Throughout the month of February, Casey’s General Stores will ask customers to help raise money for diabetes research. Casey’s customers can donate $1 to have a JDRF paper sneaker with their name displayed in the store. Since 2007 Casey’s General Stores have raised $756,000 for JDRF. Please spread the word to all your family and friends to stop by Casey’s to purchase a sneaker – all those single sneakers add up to big research dollars for diabetes! You are invited to join Albert Hwa PhD, JDRF Senior Program Scientist in Beta Cell Therapies, to hear first hand about the latest medical breakthroughs in diabetes research. Dr. Hwa develops and manages research initiatives related to islet transplantation, bioengineering, stem cell research, cell encapsulation, and cellular reprogramming. Invitations will be mailed in the next few weeks.
